Artist's Statement

Еmo Lazarov is a versatile artist who uses oil, acrylic, water-colours, China ink, pencil etc. He works in several styles as realism, expressionism, impressionism, abstract and surrealism.
In his mainly decorative abstract paintings one can detect the influence of Picasso, Kandinsky, Miro and Arshile Gorky. They have marked constructive cubism details, a brave, artistic brush stroke, lay-on ease and tone transparency, which appear in series of oil or acrylic compositions. The artist is respectfully towards great authors as Paul Cezanne, Vincent van Gogh, Nicholas Roerich, Robert Genn, Hieronymus Bosch, Salvador Dali, Yves Tanguy,Teofan Sokerov, Vladimir Stozharov, Robert Williams and Sebastian Kruger, whose influence shapes his vision for art. Еmo Lazarov was born in the Town of Plovdiv, Bulgaria, where he has obtained excellent artistic education. He possesses an Art Diploma issued by The National High School for Performing and Screen Arts, Town of Plovdiv and Master Art Degree by Veliko Tarnovo. The author has additional training on the grounds of art courses in Sydney Australia, completed at educational institutions of repute as The National Art School, Julian Ashton Art School, Design Centre Enmore and Waverley Woollahra Arts Centre.
When we acquaint further with the artist’s biography we find real creative passion, view originality, unique composition which are presented by skilfully demonstrated, solid 
academism.
It seams that the author tells a story in his surrealistic, symbolic, expressionistic works, directing at reflection for worldly lesson search. The main view is presented laconically, but sometimes, even striking, by the means of symbolical techniques, too.
Most of these pictures (oil, acrylic, and water colours) are actually allegories and parables, where the subject of the image is the meaning, not the physical reality. This is shown convincingly by combinations of forms – symbols, which build the composition.   
The series of impressive, realistic seascapes shows the author’s skills to reproduce the day’s spirits and atmosphere. Sensation for light, warmth and cosiness, pleasantness and good existence is available, as the wish to be present at the place of image.  
His realistic approach to shaping is bold, accurate and quite bright in the still life made in acrylic or oil – another enthusiasm of the artist, who shares smilingly: "If I paint an apple I would like it to appear tasty, if I paint a glass of vodka, let it intoxicate !"
Looking back at the generations, Emo Lazarov is the 5th generation of Auguste Rodin student (Rodinism), in fact. He specialized Sculpture as main subject, but after the graduation he came back to his first love – the painting and the drawing (the caricature). Big part of artist’s creative work consists of caricatures and satiric-comic portraits made in oil, acrylic, water colors, pastel or China ink. Customers from more than 70 states possess such works. The purpose is to represent the object’s characterizations more simplified or overstated on pronounced friendly way. According to Emo: the caricature is given happiness, sometimes it is laugh till the tears come.
''The artist learns and develops continuously” – shares the author. Emo is an itinerant wandering artist, literally and in his work development. This trend is applied widely in his work, performed in several styles, techniques and methods, which outline his presence as non-standard and unique!
